St. Brigid's Cross 2019

On Friday, 1st February, Mrs .Kelly embarked on the task of making St. Brigid’s crosses with all the pupils from the senior room. The cross, made from rushes is an integral part of our heritage and we feel that it’s important not to forget this tradition. The children enjoyed the a, ctivity and they all went home with a cross on the day!

MS Readathon 2019

MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Readathon 2019

Pupils from all classes took part in the MS Readathon 2019.

A great effort was made by all for the worthy cause.

First Communion 2019

Congratulations to Both students who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday 12th May. It was a very special day for them and their families. Well done to their parents and teacher, Ms. Dolan, for preparing them so well to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Confirmation 2019

Congratulations to our 5th and 6th class students who were confirmed on Wednesday 15th May. A very special thank you to Bishop Brendan Kelly and Fr. Callanan who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with the children of St. Columba’s and Kilbeacanty National Schools. It was a very special day for these children. Well done to their parents and teacher, Mrs. Rattigan for preparing them so well for this special occasion. Thank you to the adults and children of both St. Columba’s and Kilbeacanty National Schools who sang in the beautiful choir.

Family Fun Day 2019

Well done to all involved in helping to make our recent Family Fun Day such a huge success. A great afternoon was enjoyed by all. Thank you to all who came along to support.

U14 County Shield

Well done to our former students who helped St. Thomas' secure the U14 Count Shield. Excellent roll models for all the young St. Thomas' players who attend St. Columba's National School.

Farewell 6th Class

The very best of luck to our students, who will be entering secondary school next September. With the knowledge they have gained at St. Columba's N.S. they will fit in with ease at Gort Community College.

New Junior Infants

Welcome our new Junior Infants for the school year 2019/2020.

O'Duffy Cup

On Friday 11THOctober 2019, members of the Galway Senior Camogie Team visited our school with the O’Duffy Cup. We asked them lots of questions about their training and what it was like to win an All Ireland Camogie Medal. We had lots of photos taken with the cup and the girls signed autographs and chatted to us all.Thank you to the team members for visiting our school and for sharing their experience with us.

Halloween Fun

All the students turned out in fantastic Halloween costume.

Christmas Carol Service

On Thursday 12th December our school held a Christmas Concert at 7pm. The school community gathered in the School Hall where the whole school sang a selection of Christmas Carols and performed a number of popular Christmas songs.

Children from the Senior Room showed their musical talents performing Christmas pieces on tin whistles, violin and recorder.

The school was beautifully decorated with colourful lights, trees and art displays. Everyone enjoyed the Concert which was followed by a raffle for wonderful prizes organised by our hard working and dedicated Parents’ Association.

To add to the Christmas spirit, refreshments and delicious home baking were served. A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all.
