This is our new Green School’s Committee for this year. They are working to promote reusing and recycling within the school.
Pancake Tuesday

Operation Transformation 10 @ 10
The pupils and teachers are taking part in the Operation Transformation 10 @ 10 initiative every day.
We are having lots of fun keeping fit and active in our school.
FAI 5 a-side Soccer
On February 27th the senior room pupils took part in the FAI 5 a-side soccer competition at Salthill Devon FC.
An enjoyable day was had by all.
St. Patrick's Day Parade
Students, Staff and Parents took part in this years St. Patrick's Day Parade in Gort.
A fantastic effort was put into the costumes by the children, the theme ''The Legend of the Flight of the Dishes''.
First Holy Communion 2018
Congratulation to our 2nd class pupils who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday 29th April in St. Columba’s Church, Kilbeacanty and St. Patrick’s Church, Derrybrien.
Thank you to Fr. Callanan, Fr. Conroy, their parents and their teacher Ms. Dolan for preparing them for this special day.
Planting 2018
All children had great fun planting our summer window boxes. The fabulous sunny weather helped us work and develop our raised bed with herbs, fruit and vegetables. We are looking forward to seeing the results of our hard work.
FamilyFun Day
Saturday 16th June saw the 2nd Family Fun Day hosted by the Parents Committee at the School. There were many a child of Prague statues working with the forces to allow a for a window in the weather so the events could take place.
It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all. Students, Parents and Past Pupils took part in a verity of fun events such as Spoon Race, Sack Race, 3 Legged Race, Solo the Ball and Obstacle Race. Face painting added great colour to the day and the Ice-cream man arrived at the perfect time for a cool down. Many Parents provided an array of cakes, buns and sandwiches.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in pulling this day together.
End of Year Lunch
As another year comes to an end at St. Columba's N.S. the parents show their appreciation to all the staff for the hard work they do in looking after, educating and broadening the minds of all the young children who attend.

Christmas Concert 2018
On Wednesday evening, 12th December, we performed our Christmas play “Lights, Camel, Action”
We spent a lot of time preparing for the big night and a dazzling performance was put on by the whole school. There was acting, singing and dancing including a line dance, a musical piece on violin, a ballet dance, a Morris dance, some disco dancing and a tango. Afterwards tea and finger food was served and a wonderful evening was had by all. (As recalled by the pupils of 6th class)
Connacht Rugby Team Visit 2018
On Thursday 10th January 2019, our school had a Tag Rugby Blitz in Gort. The Connacht Rugby Team came to visit. It was amazing. Hundreds of pupils from the county attended. We played a few games before the team arrived and
many of the players from the Connacht Rugby Team joined in with our games. We got lots of photos and autographs from the team and our school was lucky enough to be on the RTE News pictured with Bundee Aki.
We all had a fantastic day and we will remember it for a long time.
